Ready to foster?
We are so glad you’re here! Fostering is an incredibly important component of helping rescue dogs. A foster home means a dog has a safe and loving place to heal mentally and physically before they are ready to move onto their forever home. Because Pepper’s Pals is a foster-based rescue, we can only save as many dogs as we have foster homes for. If you are interested in joining the Pepper’s Pals Foster Team please check out the process below (including FAQs), fill out the foster application, and let’s start saving dogs!

Frequently Asked Questions
Most frequent questions and answers
None! We will provide all the essentials needed to care for your foster dog.
Short answer: We ask that you love your foster and provide them necessary care – just as if they were your own dog. Most of our fosters will require daily training, exercise, and socialization. When needed, we expect you will be able to transport your foster to the vet for medical care or routine appointments. We also request that you keep in regular communication with the Pepper’s Pals Team and provide updated info and photos for social media content.
Every dog that comes into Pepper’s Pals care is placed on a two-week holding period with their foster. This allows us to assess the dog’s behavior, give medical care, and spay/neuter before they can be adopted. After the required holding period, fosters usually keep the dog until they are adopted – which can vary from days to several months. Certain ages and breeds adopt out faster, while dogs recovering from an illness or injury may require a longer stay. If you have a time constraint, please let our foster coordinator know up front.
Yes! We just want to be sure you are able to safely take them outside for regular potty breaks and exercise.
No! We do not allow our foster dogs to go to dog parks. Dogs parks are a huge liability. There are too many unknown factors – including potential for disease transmission. We are happy to work with you on finding suitable alternatives for socialization and exercise!
All dogs with Pepper’s Pals Rescue are promoted on social media via Instagram and Facebook as well as through adoption events held in the Phoenix valley. We encourage all our fosters to promote their foster dogs on social media, through word of mouth, or by any other creative means!
We have several vets in the valley that we work with. If your foster dog becomes sick, please notify the rescue as soon as possible; we will help coordinate where to take your foster.
Yes! Please let us know on your foster application if you have pets and tell us a little about them. We can help do intros or recommend how to keep them separated if necessary.
Yes! We love it when our foster pups get the full-family experience and learn to live with humans of all ages. Please let us know on your foster application if you have children in the house and what their ages are. This will help us find an “age-appropriate” foster for you. Keep in mind, children under the age of 12 years should never be left alone/unsupervised with a foster dog. You must be diligent about providing guidance, instruction, and rules to your children about caring for a foster dog.
No, only one application is necessary. Mark on the application each dog that you are interested in fostering. After that initial application (and you are approved as a foster), you will stay in our system. Simply reach out to us if you see another dog you are interested in helping.
No. One application is plenty. Our Foster Coordinator will reach out to you within 72 hours of receiving your application for an interview. Thank you for your patience!
Yes! This is affectionately known as a “foster-fail”. As long as the adoption criteria is met, this should be a smooth process. Please let us know of your intentions as soon as possible so that we don’t start the adoption process with another family.
