About Valor:

Meet the beautiful and lovely Valor! This sweet girl has never had a forever home, and is looking for one to call her own. Unlike a lot of Malinois, Valor is good with dogs and cats. She does not have high prey drive and currently shares her foster home with a 5 pound yorkie mix and a dog-friendly cat. In addition to knowing some basic obedience, Valor is excellent in the kennel and is fully potty trained. She’s very smart! While we have not tested Valor around kids, we suspect she would do well around respectful children who are experienced with rescue dogs/shepherds. We have not seen any resource guarding from her with food or toys since being in foster. Valor is not super vocal or high energy, and would make a wonderful project pet for someone who loves the breed but is not looking for a sport or guard dog.

Valor’s story is an example of what happens when people get a breed of dog for “the look,” without doing any research into the breed’s requirements. Valor’s (backyard) breeder initially sold her to a person who decided they didn’t want to care for a Malinois puppy. The breeder’s dogs were “too aggressive” to take Valor back, so she was given to another person who had no dog experience. Instead of trying to work with Valor or make her feel comfortable, the person used a broom to beat and shove Valor out of the house – Valor craves human attention and didn’t want to leave!

The wonderful HARTT team eventually trapped Valor as a stray. We then transferred her into our rescue, where she has been in foster with our trainer since. Despite Valor’s chaotic beginning, she is an incredibly sweet dog who seeks human connection. Her low confidence contributes to her having some anxiety about being outside, but she has already improved a lot with her loving, supportive foster.

Valor needs a dedicated, patient owner who is willing to spend time with her every day to build a strong relationship. She will make a loyal, loving companion to her devoted owner.

**Adoption fee includes: vaccinations, spay, dewormed, labwork, and microchipped.
